![]() (Return to Office Floorplan Map) ![]() The right-hand corner of this picture features one of the most important areas of our office, the tooth brushing station. It features dual sinks and sanitized pre-wrapped disposable toothbrushes for your safety. Toothpaste is embedded in the bristles so there is no cross-contamination with a tube of toothpaste. Mouthwash and peroxide rinse are also provided. Good oral hygiene is one of the most important aspects of cooperation during orthodontic treatment to avoid cavities, swollen gums, areas of decalcification (white marks) and periodontal disease (bone loss). Patients are taught to brush and floss and their hygiene is monitored each visit. We cannot over-emphasize the importance of maintaining regular dental check-ups during orthodontic treatment. In general, a patient should be visiting their dentist at least twice a year for a check-up, cleaning and fluoride treatment. We would encourage you to ask your family dentist or their hygienist if more frequent visits should be scheduled based on the individual patient's level of home care. Remember that their office is most familiar with you and your family member's dental care needs. |
